Sunday Thoughts: His Empathy.

When you think of the word “empathy” what do you think?

It is more than just “feeling bad” for someone, empathy is truly understanding how someone is feeling to a degree of complete compassion and love.

This quote by David A. Bednar complete summarizes the powerful amount of empathy that the Savior has for each and every one of us.

The Savior knows us individually and his empathy for us is at an individual level.

What a blessing it is to be understood in a manner that Christ understands us.

To know that the Savior is ALWAYS there to extend his arm of mercy is incredible.

What a gift.

What a blessing.

What an extraordinary tribute to us…to know that the Savior will not only always be there for us, but he will completely and whole-heartedly understand every ounce of the struggles we may go through in life.

It is truly such a blessing to be members of the Church of Jesus Christy of Latter Day Saints. I feel extremely blessed to know that our Savior lives and loves us beyond measure.

Perhaps just knowing the love that the Savior has for us, can get us through those tough days.

Why Do I Forget to do This With My Cute Little Kids?

Many of you are on summer break like we are.

I have three little ones at home around the clock, age 5, 4 and 1.

I love being at home with my kids, I am so grateful to be home with my kids.

And yet, there are somedays when it can be a really, loooong day with these cute kids.

Why?

They get grumpy, fight with each other, are picky eaters, make messes, and so forth….

Well, today while I was down in the basement, I saw some Jenga blocks that we hadn’t played with for months.

I grabbed the blocks and took them upstairs for the kids to play with.

Usually I am trying to clean or fold laundry or do something productive while the kids are playing nicely.

But it just felt nice to sit and play blocks with them.

And guess what? We all played with these block for a good 40 minutes without a big fight or issue.

We all had fun!
Moral of the story?

Play with your kids!

We all know, but easily forget, that the dishes and laundry can wait.

Every single day, our children are growing bigger and older.

The time truly sneaks by, and I know we will all cherish the memories of playing with our kids.

The Perfect Father’s Day Dinner/Gluten-Free!

If you have been following for a while, you know I have celiacs disease and have to eat gluten-free.

I have learned that gluten-free dinner can still be tasty and delicious.

So for Father’s Day, I had to share the perfect gluten-free dinner!

All the dinner items have recipes linked.

And let’s be honest, sometimes the dinner is the best part for dad’s that love and enjoy food.

So for the main coarse on Father’s Day, we will be making Gluten-free Sweet & Sour Meatballs. These meatballs are one of my husbands top favorites! These meatballs are are full of flavor and the sauce is amazing! The hint of pineapple in the meatballs and in the sauce make for some very tasty meatballs.

Eat these meatballs on top of rice and you will definitely want seconds!

Let’s cook a great Father’s Day Meal!

For side dishes, we will eat this delicious pink berry salad. This fruit salad is simple to make and requires just a few ingredients.

The other side that will taste great with this meal is our favorite gluten-free potato salad. My husband loves potatoes so this potato salad is a must for Father’s Day. It’s very simple to make this potato salad gluten-free, and it is still packed with flavor!

For dessert—well it’s a tough choice, but we will be making the best eclair dessert/gluten-free!

Everyone will love this gluten-free Eclair Dessert!

This dessert is very tasty, and I am always told that people can’t believe it’s gluten-free because the texture tastes just like it would with regular flour….that’s a win!

And one thing we can not forget…a delicious drink.

For Father’s Day, add in this tasty drink, our Cherry-Limeade drink is simple, and easy to make, and tastes wonderful for this warm, summer weather.

A Quick Spiritual Sunday Thought…

Sometimes it’s just a simple quote that propels my mind into thinking about the Lord and His love for us.

This thought by David A. Bednar is my focus today:

What a blessing to know that the Lord knows us better than we even know ourselves.

Even more, the Lord know “who we are becoming.”

The Lord knows our potential and our many talents and abilities.

Isn’t is such a wonderful feeling to know that the Lord is in our corner.

He is and always has been cheering us on.

However, the Lord has a soft, still voice. A voice of peace and love and we have to draw close to Him to feel him there with us.

Oh what a wonderful blessing it is to know, that we are loved by someone so Holy, and so Loving.

If you feel like you’re not where you want to be in life, I hope this small thought will keep you moving forward.

Don’t forget the love our Heavenly Father has for each one of us.

And knowing this, can help us press forward to “become” all that we need to be in this life.
